Description

Tetrastark 5.5% Injection – Broad-Spectrum Veterinary Antibiotic

Tetrastark 5.5% Injection is a broad-spectrum bacteriostatic antibiotic formulated for veterinary use. It provides antimicrobial activity against a wide range of susceptible Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, as well as Mycoplasma, some protozoa, Rickettsia, Chlamydia, Spirochetes, and other susceptible microorganisms.

Its broad spectrum makes Tetrastark 5.5% a versatile option for veterinary disease management where infections caused by susceptible organisms are confirmed or strongly suspected.

Broad-Spectrum Antibacterial Activity

Tetrastark 5.5% has activity against numerous Gram-positive organisms, including susceptible Corynebacterium, Clostridia, Erysipelothrix, Actinomycetes, Staphylococcus, and Streptococcus species.

It also acts against a range of Gram-negative microorganisms, including susceptible Escherichia coli, Salmonella, Pasteurella, Haemophilus, Brucella, Pseudomonas, Bordetella, Chlamydia, and Rickettsia species.

The supplied product information also indicates activity against Mycoplasma, some protozoal organisms such as Anaplasma and Leptospira, Spirochetes, and certain large viruses.

Systemic Absorption and Distribution

Following administration, Tetrastark 5.5% is absorbed from the injection site and distributed throughout the body. According to the supplied product information, the active substance penetrates various organs, tissues, and body fluids, including crossing the placental barrier.

This systemic distribution allows the antibiotic to reach susceptible microorganisms located in different areas of the body.

Excretion and Veterinary Considerations

The supplied information states that the active substance is excreted through urine, bile, faeces, and milk. This is particularly important when treating food-producing animals.

Veterinarians and farmers should therefore observe the manufacturer’s recommended dosage, treatment duration, withdrawal periods, and species-specific precautions. Antibiotics should be used responsibly and preferably following veterinary diagnosis or professional guidance.
