GENERAL INFORMATION:

Ciprotom Oral is a broad-spectrum antibiotic used to cure infections in cattle (bovine), horses, pigs (swine), and sheep which are caused by susceptible bacteria. It is a synthetic broad-spectrum antimicrobial agent for oral administration. Ciprofloxacin could be considered for use as an alternative to enrofloxacin if larger oral dosage form is required.

PROPERTIES:

Ciprofloxacin the active ingredient belongs to the fluoroquinolone group. Its bactericidal action has a broad spectrum powerful activity, high safety and spectrum of activity that would cover Mycoplasma, Gram-positive, and negative bacteria.

INDICATIONS:

Ciprotom Oral is for gastrointestinal, respiratory, and urinary tract infections caused by ciprofloxacin-sensitive micro-organisms like Campylobacter, E.coli, Haemophilus, Mycoplasma, Pasteurella, and Salmonella spp. in poultry, calves, goats and sheep.

Dosage and Administration:

For oral administration:

Prevention:

Poultry: 1ml per 4-8 litres drinking water for 3-5 days.

Calves, goats, and sheep: 1ml per 30-40kg body weight for 3-5 days.

Treatment:

Poultry: 1ml per 2-3 litres drinking water for 3-5 days.

Calves, goats, and sheep: 1ml per 15-20kg body weight for 3-5 days.

Note: for pre-ruminant calves and lambs only.

WITHDRAWAL PERIOD:

Allow 5 days before slaughtering or using eggs for human consumption purposes.

PRECAUTIONS:

Forbidden to animals with suspected or known central nervous system (CNS) disorder.

SIDE EFFECTS:

Young animals cured with ciprofloxacin may have the cartilage of their joints damaged. Lameness and swollen joints are other clinical signs that may be observed too. For a comprehensive list of all possible effects, consult a veterinary physician. If any symptom persists or gets worse, or you notice any other symptom, then please seek veterinary medical treatment immediately.
