General information

AtraForce is a selective, systemic, triazine agricultural herbicide, absorbed principally through the roots, but also through the foliage with translocation acropetally in the xylem and accumulation in the apical meristems and leaves.

It is a photosynthetic electron transport inhibitor at the photosystem II receptor site. Maize tolerance is attributed to rapid detoxification by glutathione transferases.

Principal uses

AtraForce is used for pre and post-emergence control of broad-leaved weeds and annual grasses. It is used as a season-long weed control in maize, sorghum, sugarcane, yam, pineapple, fruit orchards, citrus groves, bananas, guavas, coffee, oil palm, etc. It is phytotoxic to most vegetables, potatoes, soya beans, and groundnuts.

Directions of use

Ensure that the sprayer is properly and correctly calibrated before use. Half-fill the sprayer with clean water and add the recommended quantity of AtraForce Agitate during the completion of filling. AtraForce is applied to foliage prior to infection. Initial application is in the early rainy season, when it starts raining, followed by periodic re-treatments.

NB: The volume of clean water to cover one ha is 400 liters.

Compatibility

AtraForce can be mixed with metachlor or pendimethalin for use in maize as pre-emergence application and with bentazone as Post-emergence application in maize; with diuron for use in pineapple. If weeds are present at the time of application, apply in tank mix in combination with paraquat.

Protective precautions

Avoid contact with eyes, skin, clothing, and breathing vapors. Wear protective clothing, gloves, and goggles.

Do not drink, eat or smoke tobacco during application. Wash the used equipment and bathe after application.

First aid

If contaminated with skin or clothing, take off contaminated clothes.

Rinse skin with plenty of water.

If inhaled, move the person to fresh air. If the person is not breathing, give artificial respiration. If swallowed, induce vomiting and drink enough water. Seek medical attention.

Handling and storage cautions

Do not store near food, feed, or drinking water. Store in a dry, well-ventilated area below 30^oC.

Disposal of the pesticides’ empty containers:

Wastes should be disposed off in a landfill approved for pesticide disposal.
