TETRANOR 5.5%® is a broad-spectrum, long-acting oxytetracycline antibiotic effective against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, Mycoplasma, Chlamydia, Rickettsia, and some protozoa. It is ideal for treating respiratory, gastrointestinal, urinary, and soft tissue infections in livestock and pets. Rapid absorption and deep tissue penetration make it suitable for systemic and localized infections.

TETRANOR 5.5%® is a bacteriostatic antibiotic with a wide spectrum of activity against Gram-positive (Cocci spp., Corynebacterium spp., Clostridia spp., Erysipelothrix spp., Actinomycetes spp., Staphylococcus spp., Streptococcus spp., … etc.) and Gram-negative (Escherichia coli, Salmonella spp., Pasteurella spp., Haemophilus spp., Brucella spp., Pseudomonas spp., Bordetella spp., Chlamydiae spp., Rrickettsiae spp., … etc.) microorganisms, Mycoplasmas spp., some protozoa (Anaplasma spp., Leptospires spp., Spirochetes spp., … etc.) and large viruses.

It is absorbed from the injection site and penetrates into all the body organs, tissues, and fluids, the placental barrier included. It is excreted in an active form in urine, bile, feces, and milk.

TETRANOR 5.5% is recommended in infections of the respiratory and uro-genital tracts, gastro-intestinal canal, and the soft tissues; in septic conditions; in secondary bacterial infections, in viral diseases caused by oxytetracycline-sensitive pathogenic microorganisms ( as mentioned above); in mastitis -metritis-agalactia (MMA) syndrome in sows; in metritis, mastitis, post-operative conditions, enterotoxemia, pyelonephritis, tetanus, foot rot, malignant edema, infectious polyarthritis, spirochetosis, anaplasmosis … etc. in large ruminants such as calves, cattle, camels … etc and small ruminants such as goats, sheep… etc, horses, pigs, dogs, cats, and birds.

Dosage & administration:

1.5-2.5 ml / 50 kg live body weight

2.5 ml / 50 kg live body weight in case of anaplasmosis.

Sheep and goats 1-1.5 ml / 50 kg live body weight
Pigs 0.25 – 0.5 ml / 10 kg live body weight
Dogs 0.5 ml / 10 kg live body weight
Cats 0.05 ml/kg live body weight
Fowls 0.15 – 0.25 ml/kg live body weight

 

NB:

-The higher doses of each dosage scale are intended for the younger animals of the respective species.

-For intramuscularly (IM), subcutaneously (SC), and slowly intravenously administration.

-The dose on a single site in intramuscular administration must not exceed 10 ml for large ruminants, 4.5 ml for pigs, 3 – 4.5 ml for sheep and goats, and 1 ml for small animals.

– Before use warm up the solution to body temperature.

-TETRANOR 5.5% must be applied once daily for 3-5 consecutive days.

Contra-indications:

Animals with kidney impairment; pregnant animals; newborn animals. Discoloration of teeth in young animals (it may lead to brown coloration of teeth). After intramuscular administration local reactions can occur, which disappear in a few days. Do not administer intravenously to horses, dogs, and cats.

Withdrawal period:

Meat: 10 days

Milk: 4 days.
