COMMERCIAL CULTIVATION OF MAIZE

• Prepare the land and make ridges/rows.
• Plant two (2) seeds per hole at a spacing of 50cm within the ridge and 75cm between ridges or plant one (1) seed per hole at a spacing of 25cm within the ridge and 75cm between ridges.
• Apply NPK 20:10:10 fertilizer at the rate of 5 bags per hectare at 2 weeks after planting by burying it 3cm deep and 5 to 7cm away from the plant.
• Weed the farm at the early stage of weed emergence and ensure that the farm is always weed-free.
• Apply Urea at the rate of 2 bags per hectare at 6 to 7 weeks after planting.
• Depending on management: Yield between 4 to 6 tons per hectare is obtainable.
