Description

IRETON is a low viscosity dextran iron solution which is quickly absorbed and completely used, used to prevent anemia. Adequate iron is necessary for normal, healthy, vigorous growth. Iron plays an essential role in causing anemia.

The metallic iron atom in its ferrous state is incorporated in a compound called hem or ferrous protoporphyrin,a prosthetic group of hemoglobin. Studies with radioactive iron have shown that the hem synthesis takes place in the mature erythrocyte and not in the bone marrow, liver or spleen. The hem is combined first with a globin protein to form hemoglobin. Hem may also be found in other enzyme systems related to oxygen interchange, like the cytochrome system.

Indications

IRETON is intended for.

  • Prophylaxis in newbom calves of scarce vitality.
  • Prophylaxis in cattle that is susceptible to diseases during breeding (diarrhea and pneumonia).
