Description:

I.DNOR is a low-viscosity dextran iron solution quickly absorbed and completely used, used to prevent anemia due to lack of iron or iron deficiency in small and large species such as cattle, sheep, goats, cats, dogs, and pigs. Adequate iron is necessary for normal, healthy, vigorous growth. Iron plays an essential role in causing anemia. The metallic iron atom in its ferrous state is incorporated in a compound called hem or ferrous protoporphyrin, a prosthetic group of hemoglobin. Studies with radioactive iron have shown that hem synthesis takes place in the mature erythrocyte and not in the bone marrow, liver, or spleen. The hem is combined first with a globin protein to form hemoglobin. Hem may also be found in other enzyme systems related to oxygen interchange, like the cytochrome system. Indications:

I.DNOR is intended for:

  • Prophylaxis in newborn calves of scarce vitality.
  • Prophylaxis in cattle that is susceptible to diseases during breeding (diarrhea and pneumonia).
  • Prophylaxis and treatment of anemia in piglets.
  • To improve breeding in cats and dogs.

Contraindication:

High doses might cause teratogenesis and embryotoxicity. Only use the recommended dosage. Do not inject more than 5 ml in each injection area. If excessive doses are administered during prolonged periods of time, there might be an over surge or toxicosis. Iron accumulation in the body might manifest itself with two known states: hemosiderosis and hemochromatosis.
